Thermistors

For Ambient Temperatures
Thermistors are ideal for ambient temperatures as they combine fast response time and accuracy. Range extremes are -50°C to + 150°C. Long cable lengths can be used.

Type U: 2000 ohms at 25°C (accuracy +/-0.1°C over the range 0 to 70°C)

Thermocouples

Wide Temperature Range
Thermocouples can be used over a very wide temperature range (-200 to +2500°C) but do not provide the accuracy of thermistors or PRTs at normal temperatures. They have quick response times and are suitable for a very wide range of applications. Thermocouples must be used with special connecting leads and connecting plugs

PRTs (Platinum resistance)

Accurate at High Temperatures
PRTs are best suited for measuring temperatures down to -100°C and up to +600°C with good long term stability and accuracy. Due to the small change in resistance of PRTs, cable resistance can affect the accuracy of the sensor. Three or preferably four wire cables should be used and long lengths should be avoided. Eltek products support only PT100 Platinum Resistance Sensors.

Ordering

The temperature probe ordering code is as follows:

EL [Probe]-[Sensor]-[Cable]-[Cable Length]-[Connector]

For example, to order a general purpose CS U Thermistor probe with 3m of PVC large coaxial cable and a 2 way mini plug with strain relief, the order code would be EL CS-U-VL-03-5.

Choose the probe configuration you require from the Probe Types, Cables and Connectors sections and build an order code like the one above. Please ensure the order code is valid, i.e. that the cable type that you may have specified is compatible with the sensor, plug and range that you require.

Capacitive Humidity and Temperature Probes

RHT10E The RHT10E is a cost effective, compact and robust RH and temperature probe for use with Eltek GenII transmitters (the probe is not suitable for other applications).
The sensor is housed in a replaceable protective cap with a non-removable stainless steel (grade 316) 100 micron dust filter.
The RHT10E is intended for indoor, non-condensing applications. The RH and temp sensor is removable thereby permitting exchange or calibration.
The lead is non detachable and can be ordered at a user-specified length from 1m up to 10m.

pH Sensors for 450/1000 series Squirrel Data Loggers

1000 series Squirrel pH inputs are designed to interface with many of the Thermo Russell range of pH electrodes. As there are great number of industrial electrodes available from Thermo Russell, it is best to refer to their website to determine which pH electrode best suits your application.

About Squirrel pH loggers and the pH sensor interface

Model 1012
Squirrel model 1012 interfaces directly to the pH electrode.Models 451pH and 1001pH
Squirrel models 451pH and 1001pH must be used with the pH-int interface. One pH-int is required for each pH electrode to be used.

The need for temperature compensation
All pH electrodes produce an output that varies slightly with temperature. This can be compensated for if the temperature is known. Therefore, all Squirrel loggers for pH use have the requisite number of temperature inputs. The Squirrel can then compensate for temperature and provide the most accurate pH value possible. Temperature should always be used.

PH-int

pH-int module for BNC connection

This compact module (approximately 25 x 19 x 45.5mm excluding the BNC socket) plugs directly into the logger terminal block and presents a BNC socket for connection to the pH electrode. The pH electrode wiring should not exceed 20m. One pH-int will be required for each pH electrode to be used. Use of the pH-int interface does not significantly affect the logger battery life.

 

 

 

 

 

 

LS50 and LS70 Light Sensors

There are many areas where the effects of light have to be monitored and logged, typical applications include measurement of light falling on museum exhibits. Both visible light and UV light components need to be identified and measured. The LS50 ("Light puck") and LS70 modules utilise the museum and conservation industry preferred Elsec - Littlemore light / light and UV sensors.

The GD72E transmitter interfaces with all sensors at digital level so that no system accuracy is lost.

When used with Darca Heritage software both instantaneous and cumulative light and UV values can be provided.

AC supply presence failure detection transducer

ELCC The EL-CC is a simple transducer for detecting presence or failure of an AC supply. An isolated contact is provided which indicates AC available if closed and AC absent or failed if open.

The EL-CC is intended for use with GenII Event transmitters types GC60, GD24 (after serial number 13738) and GD34 (after serial number 13773).

This state change can be detected and interpreted by the logger as an alarm condition, so that the logger alarm relay will provide a contact closure or send an SMS alarm message if a GSM modem is connected.
